Guild is looking for a Staff Engineer to build features, design and implement APIs, and lead cross-domain engineering efforts within the Payments engineering group. We are a growing organization of engineers, product managers, and designers who are passionate about using technology to support millions of adult learners across the country. The Payments group at Guild fulfills this vision daily by handling large cash flows between partners while ensuring audibility and reliability.

Our teams currently develop in the following stacks: Node, Python, Java, Ruby/Rails, React, and Typescript. We are moving to a Serverless First strategy with AWS as our primary cloud provider, and are looking for a Staff engineer to help us on this journey. As part of this effort, we will mature our financial and revenue platform in order to serve many more students in the future.

As a Staff Engineer, you will:

  • Use AWS managed services to build scalable serverless applications in support of our fast growing customer base
  • Draw on prior financial engineering experience to guide our Payments engineering outcomes
  • Work in complex multi-functional accounting domains
  • Create code that is understandable, testable, and shared across teams and partners
  • Lead cross-org engineering efforts, share knowledge and feedback with multiple teams and partners
  • Deliver on time and be accountable to multiple teams and partners
  • Use design concepts to split larger applications into smaller domains to improve autonomy

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Breadth of experience across many software stacks and industries
  • Experience integrating in-house software solutions with business ERPs such as Netsuite
  • Background in using Financial Services and/or Payments solutions such as Stripe to integrate with in-house software systems
  • Affinity for building relationships – respect, communication, inclusion, and recognition are an important part of building software at Guild
  • Delivery experience with iterative software development and/or lean product development
  • Passion for our mission – Guild is pioneering a new path for adult learners in a complicated and regulated space
  • Expertise in any of these primary technologies that Guild uses for new products: Python, Node.js, React, Typescript, Javascript, GraphQL, AWS Lambda
  • Exposure to building and owning multiple services and APIs—data modeling, unit and integration testing, and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD)
  • A Learner’s Mindset – always be learning and sharing what you learn with others
  • Demonstrated curiosity and interest in keeping up and experimenting with new technologies.

We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market driven, including a base salary range of $185,000-$218,750, as well as company stock options.
