Guild is hiring a VP of Software Engineering. We’re looking for a Vice President (VP) of Engineering with experience managing agile development teams across multiple domains within the engineering organization. Our VP of Engineering will be responsible for ensuring that our software meets product requirements while also delivering a consistent user experience, high reliability and is built for long term scalability. You’ll be managing teams of engineering managers, directors and engineers, collaborating with the product managers and other cross-functional leaders in the organization, helping to build and execute on the product and technical vision. You’ll also be collaborating with stakeholders across the organization in discovery and scoping efforts for enterprise platform capabilities for our large Fortune 500 employer partners, over 100 different academic partners and managing the evolution of our payments facilitation platform.
As VP, Engineering, you will:
- Lead a team of 80+ engineers across various domains and functional engineering areas.
- Work collaboratively with engineering and product leaders to manage our platform, architecture and teams in a consistent way getting the most innovation and effectiveness from our people, processes and architecture.
- Ensure delivery of high quality, secure and reliable software systems aligned with the needs of the business across multiple teams.
- Recruit, develop and retain top engineering talent. Work with HR and other technology leaders to manage recruiting, retention and continuous learning opportunities for your team in the context of Guild’s DEI goals.
- Ensure delivery of high quality, secure and reliable software systems aligned with the needs of the business across multiple teams.
- Lead and deliver on technical strategy and guide teams through technology decisions pragmatically.
- Partner with product and work cross-functionally with other leaders in the organization to build out and prioritize technical roadmaps.
- Recommend new technology and technical enhancements to improve efficiency and scalability within the engineering organization.
- Inspire and motivate teams in a remote working environment.
You are a strong fit for this role if you have:
Required Competencies
- B.S. degree, technical certification and/or 12+ years of experience in engineering leadership with 7+ years experience leading an engineering team in a technical field required (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.)
- Experience managing 80+ engineering organizations and across multiple business areas.
- Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills with the ability to explain approach to all levels in the organization including key stakeholders and leaders.
- Able to think strategically and see the big picture while also focusing teams on execution and delivery.
- Experience in developing B2B SaaS or marketplace platforms with high level of data integration and exchange capabilities for large scale enterprise customers.
- Experience in developing payment facilitation platforms is also desirable
- Expertise managing teams using modern cloud native microservice architectures focused on serverless first technologies in AWS.
- Ability to communicate objectives and goals broadly to engineering teams as well as broader business stakeholders.
- Experience managing and mentoring managers and directors and building out career pathing in an organization.
- Proven success working closely with Product Management, contributing to the product strategy and helping to successfully deliver on the product roadmap.
We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a base salary range of $260,000 - $297,500, as well as company stock options.
